CCTV shows suspect in teenage assault case

POLICE HAVE now released CCTV footage showing a man they wish to interview in connection with an incident in Bethnal Green on 19th July.

At just after midday a 15 year old girl was walking along Bethnal Green Road. As she reached the junction with Jersey Street, a man who was walking towards her sexually assaulted her. The suspect then ran off – but he was filmed on CCTV as he left Bethnal Green Road and appeared on Cambridge Heath Road.

The suspect is described as a white man in his mid 30s with short brown hair and a goatee beard. He was wearing a white T-shirt, dark green trousers and red flip flops. He was carrying a sports bag over his right shoulder.

DC Tomasz Patzer of Tower Hamlets CID said, “I need to identify the man shown in the CCTV footage. I urge anyone who may know his identity, or who witnessed the incident, to contact police.”
