IT’S BEEN the sort of summer that’s sent millions of people out to buy a domestic fan to use at home. Now B&Q has issued an alert: one of the fans it has been selling could set fire to your home.

B&Q has recalled the product – a white 9-inch table fan. The product has been on sale since March this year. It seems that one of its electrical components can overheat: that could lead to it giving an electric shock to anyone touching it or, even worse, it could spark a fire in your home.

The product is described as an OPP White 9” table fan FT23A. It has the barcode 5063022605689. The product was manufactured by Kingfisher International Products Ltd and sold by B&Q. Anyone who has bought this product should stop using it immediately and return it to your nearest B&Q store.
