Beanibazar Welfare Trust UK hosts glittering awards night

The Beanibazar Welfare Trust held its annual awards night and joint fundraiser at the Royal Regency in Newham. Guests included Stephen Timms MP, Cllr Unmesh Desai (Labour GLA Candidate for City & East), and Speaker of Tower Hamlets Council Abdul Mukit Chunu. Tower Hamlets Deputy Mayor Sirajul Islam said: “This is a wonderful event which I have had the pleasure of attending numerous times. I am a father to young children myself and it has given me great pleasure to be a part of the celebrations of their achievements tonight.”

The evening was hosted by Mahbub Ahmed and General Secretary Delwar Hussain. He said: “Our mission is to work for the betterment of the people of the Beanibazar region living in the UK through socio-cultural and economic development.”

A handbook edited by Ali Ahmed Bebul and Mahbub Ahmed was presented to all guests highlighting the history and achievements of the Trust. Mahbub Ahmed said: “Our growth as an organisation has been nothing short of impressive. We have been helping disadvantaged people, freedom fighters and those affected by natural disasters through our various projects. Thank you all for your support and contributions.”

BBWT President Muhibur Rahman said: “It gives me tremendous pride to welcome old and new friends here tonight. Since its inception in the year 1999, Beanibazar Welfare Trust UK has been reaching out to needy people in Beanibazar and other areas of Bangladesh. Beanibazar Welfare Trust is now well organised and has become one of the largest community organisations in Europe.”

Recognised for academic success were Yasmin Razzaque, who achieved eleven A*s and two As in her GCSEs; Sumayya Hussain, who achieved a Triple Distinction in her Diploma studies; and Nilufa Ahmed, who achieved three As in his “A”-levels. Pride of Beanibazar award winners on the night were Dr Munaza Ahmed, Dr Shafi Ahmed and Emdad Rahman.

Beanibazar Welfare Trust is a non-profit organisation that aspires to bring together the people of Beanibazar in the UK onto a common platform so that they can work towards the development of this region and of the country. The association hosts various social events aimed the people of Beanibazar in UK on many occasions.

Among the current charitable projects is the flagship housing project of BBWT. It is an ambitious and inspiring initiative and the benefits will extend to many generations of people in villages of Beanibazar. The Trust is raising funds to complete the whole project which has already started changing the lives of people.
