London, England: With the Greater Sylhet Upazila Cup just a month away, Chattak hosted Beanibazar in a pre-tournament friendly at Stepney Green Park. A high tempo display from both teams saw a thoroughly competitive game played out with plenty of blood, thunder and competitive spirit.

The first half ended goalless, but there were plenty of talking points and chances with Abdul Wahid smashing smashing the crossbar and Imdadul Haque, Sayad Zaman, Ruhul Alam and Abdul Wadud all going close for Beanibazar. The Beanibazar rearguard of assistant manager Kamal Chowdhury,  Amran Ahmed and Amin Chowdhury expertly marshalled the back line, linking well to support the attack, whilst snuffing out the threat of Chattak danger man and Poplar legend Masud Miah. On the odd occasions Chattak did get through, the marksmen found impenetrable Beanibazar stopper Kunu Miah in no mood to concede.

The second half saw the introduction of fresh legs in Abdul Hamid Yusuf and Abdul Salik. Soon after, a driving midfield run from Mufi Uddin saw the ball played wide to Wahid, who threaded back for Uddin to score the opening goal for Beanibazar. A through ball from energetic lone striker Abdul Komor saw playmaker Wahid race forward and thread through for Uddin, whose thrusting run and vision from the byline set up the enterprising Khalid Ahmed to score the second goal to clinch the game.

Joint Chattak manager Shiraz Miah said, “This is a great advert for our community. There’s so much passion and commitment but also a great deal of respect. We held the Beanibazar charge very well for large parts of the game but eventually their pressure paid off.”

Victorious Beanibazar player manager Emdad Rahman MBE said, “It’s a great win against a great side. We knew Chattak would hassle, harry and frustrate. We made changes throughout the game and everyone was taken out of their comfort zone.  I’m delighted with my players’ response and character. Each one is a true champion.”
