Ashraful ton steers Scintilla home

Ashraful Islam scored 105 as Scintilla CC stormed back to beat rivals Redbridge this weekend.

Redbridge won the toss and chose to bat first. On a good batting pitch at Parmiters Sports Ground, the home side reached 263/8 after 45 overs. Imran was in sensational form and blew the Scintilla pace attack open to reach 120. His team mate Haroon scored 64. For Scintilla Ashfaqur Nobel took 2/37, vice captain Sajal Rahman 2/46, Ayaz Karim 1/41 and Farhad 3/36.

Faced with a big score, Scintilla did not wilt as the champions reached 264/8 from 42.3 overs to record a two wicket victory. Ashraful Islam scored 105, Zahied 21, Farhad 19, Nobel 17, Tanin 22 not out. Haroon took 3/58 for Redbridge.

Man of the Match Ashraful Islam said: “I have come back into the starting line up after a few games out. It was a good batting wicket and I’m happy I was able to hold my nerve and score a century to help the team to twenty points.”

Scintilla captain Ayaz Karim added: “The boys showed tremendous character and steel throughout the game and our collective resolve has won us a memorable game against respected opponents. Well done to the team.”
