Violent robbery in Newham

On Tuesday, 29th July at around 7pm a 33 year old husband and father of a 14 month old girl was walking home along Jake Russell Walk, E16 when he was approached by a male who demanded his property. The victim was stabbed in left leg, causing a near-fatal wound. He underwent emergency surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time of the attack or seen the suspect, who is described as a black male, 25 to 30 years old, 5ft 8ins tall, of a stocky build, with a dense moustache and goatee beard. He was on a black mountain bike – believed to be either with the seat low down or too small for the rider – and is believed to have fled the towards Victoria Dock Road or past allotments onto Royal Road which leads to Bering Walk and Baxter Road.

The victim’s bag has not been recovered. It was dark brown with tan piping around the edges, with three tan diagonal stripes on the bottom right hand corner and an Adidas logo.
