Honours were even after 90 minutes as Sporting Bengal United came back from a goal down to level matters in the latest Essex Senior Football League Premier Division clash at Mile End Stadium.

Both teams created chances but failed to convert, going into the break with no goals on the scoreboard. A lively start in the second half saw Takeley, three places below Sporting in the league table, take the lead, as Michael Ogboin scored the opener on 57 minutes. Sporting didn’t look likely to score until a scorching half volley from Captain Fantastic Toch Singh drew both sides even.

Sporting manager Anwar Uddin tweeted: “Frustrated with our 13th league draw today, on the plus side individuals at Sporting Bengal are improving & Toch Singh scored a banger!”

Sporting are 13th in the table with Takeley at 16th. Sporting will next entertain Waltham Forest on Wednesday, 17th February at Mile End stadium, Rhodeswell Road, London E14 7TW.
