Metro Bank creates 120 jobs in Ilford

WHILE MANY companies in the UK are struggling with mounting company debt and wondering if they can manage to stay open, the Metro Bank has announced a programme of expansion and taking on extra staff.

East Londoners will be particularly interested to hear that the company is opening a new 24/7 contact centre in rooms above the Metro Bank store at 114 High Road. The company is intending to employ 120 new employees to work there.

The Ilford recruitment will contribute to the 900 workers which the Metro Bank intends to recruit in the UK this year, which will take its number of employees close to 4,000.

The Metro Bank pays a great deal of attention to attitude when it recruits – and runs its own internal training and education system – the Metro Bank University – to improve employees’ knowledge and skills. The system seems to be paying off, as the Metro Bank has a high level of internal promotion.

Craig Donaldson, CEO at Metro Bank, commented, “It was less than six months ago that we opened our doors in Ilford and the response we’ve had from local residents and businesses has been amazing. After receiving such a warm welcome, we’re back investing in Ilford’s vibrant community and we’re thrilled to be opening our Ilford contact centre, and we can’t wait to welcome over a 100 new colleagues to the banking revolution.”
