Lions opt for a Williams pair

London Lions have brought in Jamal Williams, 6’5”, to team up with his brother, earlier signing Kai Williams, for the 2015-16 season. Jamal signs from the Worcester Wolves, where his 26 point outburst made him the MVP of the BBL Trophy Final in 2014 on the way to winning that title as well as the Playoff Final. Last season he averaged 10 points and 6 rebounds per game in a season that saw the Wolves finish third. In his first stint in the BBL in 2010, he won the BBL Championship with Mersey Tigers

Coach Nigel Lloyd said, “Jamal has showed himself to be a very smart basketball player and a winner, his enthusiasm and team orientation will really take us a long way.” Jamal was also delighted, saying, “I am grateful for the opportunity to keep playing but also excited to be in London and to play at this level again with my brother.”

Lions fans can see the team in action at the first home game of the season on Friday, 25th September when they take on Leeds Force at the Copper Box Arena at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Before that, Umass will visit the Copper Box on Saturday, 22nd August. Tickets are selling very fast for both games, and season tickets are still available.
